What does a home battery do?
A home battery stores electricity for later use. With solar panels, it can store some of the electricity you generate but do not need straight away, then supply your home when your panels produce less.
Compatible systems can also charge from the grid on a suitable time-of-use tariff. Any benefit depends on the difference between charging and usage prices, storage losses and your electricity use. A tariff and equipment review helps establish whether that approach suits you.
Fox ESS options, chosen around you
We offer Fox ESS battery and inverter options, with the exact models set out in your proposal. We help you compare a battery alongside a new solar system and explain the features of the proposed equipment.
If you already have solar, tell us your inverter model and system details. Adding storage requires a compatibility and installation assessment before we can confirm a suitable option.
What size battery do you need?
Your monthly bill is a useful starting point, but it does not tell the whole story. We look at how much electricity you use outside solar generation hours, how much surplus generation may be available and whether grid charging forms part of your plan.
- Usable capacity, in kWh: how much energy the battery can store for use.
- Power, in kW: how quickly the system can charge or supply electricity.
- Your routine: evening demand and how much energy you use in the daytime.
- Your installation: compatible equipment, suitable location and electrical requirements.
A larger battery is not automatically the better choice. We compare the proposed capacity with your expected use and explain the trade-offs.
What if you are home all day?
You may use more solar electricity directly, leaving less surplus to store. A battery may still help with evening use or a suitable tariff, but the value should be assessed against your own consumption. If you do not have a bill, we can begin with your household routine and refine the design when consumption information is available.
Monitoring and everyday use
Compatible Fox ESS equipment can use FoxCloud to show system performance. The information available depends on your equipment and metering. At handover, we explain the monitoring setup and how to use the features supported by your system.
Grid charging schedules should match your actual tariff. Tell us about changes to your tariff or electricity use so you can review the settings and assumptions.
Will a battery work during a power cut?
Backup is not included automatically with every battery system. It requires compatible equipment and a specifically designed installation. If backup matters to you, tell us before quotation so we can confirm the proposed capability and any limitations.
A clear quotation and practical next steps
Your quotation confirms the battery model, usable capacity, inverter, installation scope and total price. We also explain the manufacturer warranty, monitoring and handover arrangements. For a new system, explore solar panel installation alongside your battery options.
